Strategic Plan
The SNAICC Strategic Plan 2007–2009 [PDF 741 KB] is a plan by the Secretariat of National Aboriginal & Islander Child Care Inc. (SNAICC) of our work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families, and the services who work with them. The period for the operation of this plan has been extended to 2010. It gives information to our members and supporters and others in the community about who we are, what we have done, and what we plan to do over the next three years.
Focus Areas
The plan sets out four Focus Areas for SNAICC's work for the period:
- Child and family wellbeing and community support
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled services for children and families
- Social justice and children's rights
- A strong national peak body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children
Each Focus Area has background information on the relevant issues and identifies a number of Priority Tasks and areas of future work for SNAICC.
Compared to the previous Strategic Plan for the period 2003–2006, the new Strategic Plan has merged the previously separate sections on child welfare and early childhood development. SNAICC has always seen these two areas of policy and service delivery as connected and mutually reinforcing, and this is reflected in our policy and advocacy.
Published in November 2006, the plan was launched at SNAIC's 2006 Annual General Meeting in Cairns, Queensland.
